Apparently people really liked my last "WWII Germany" picture post, that I've collected over the years, so I'll post this one, too.
This is a photo of some SS trainee being yelled it. It's one of my favorites. First, you've got the guy getting yelled at, looking really upset, and then the guy next to him looking really uncomfortable. The guy in the snow in the background is looking at the guy being yelled at, and the guy next to him isn't even looking at anyone, he's just looking at the snow, like, "Why am I here?" And in the far corner, someone is shielding their eyes so they can get a better look at what is going on.
It's just a side of war you never see--the little human bits in between the inhumanity.
Side note, on the back it reads something with the gist of "Father's shadow as he takes photographs."

I'll post stuff about the weekend well after I get some sleep. For now, a quick bit of amusement:
I've been scanning the LOG books (it's the early '80s equivalent of what we now know as an Internet Message Board, but on paper), and I just came across a flyer for OrgasmaCon, which was based in Intercourse, PA. The costume theme for this 1982 event was "Future Nipples". As with most SF/F conventions, this apparently had an art show, a Meet the Pros party, films, dealers and filking. But all with nudity. I wonder who from the SF Forum actually went. Any Forumites on my list of friends want to fess up?
On the side, I am amusedly reminded of Wicked Faire, though it is not quite as explicit with its explicitness as this flyer (the ads for Wicked do not out and out go "HEY, YOU WILL SEE NAKED BOOBIES IF YOU COME!" -- well, this flyer didn't say that precisely, but the implication was there).
BTW, Jeff, I know that it's always in Jersey, and I know that Jersey is a hell of a lot closer to me than Pennsylvania, but I would not complain if one day the Faire took place in Intercourse. :D

Here's some of my family I found in my grandma's photo boxes my dad put in our shed.
This one is my Grandma and Grandfather and all my aunties and uncles saying goodbye to Wales before heading off on their trip to Australia. My mother isn't there, because she's the youngest and was born here in Australia.

My parents split up when I was 5 years old. I knew my father, though, and we got together sporadically over the years. He was born in 1900 (he was 20 years older than my mother) and passed away just before his 90th birthday. After he died I was given some of his photo albums. There are lots of photos of me, and of my relatives, but there are many more strangers.
I would imagine that most of these photos were taken in New England, USA.

This one was stuck in a book I bought at a thrift store.

And this one was on the ground at the bus stop.
